Igloo Multimedia provides technical support and capacity building services to Friends of the Library of Hawaii  for their Joomla! CMS based website  at a reduced, non-profit rate.

Client: Johns’ Western Gallery

URL: http://johnswesterngallery.com

While in the process of designing and building this custom wordpress installation, the client asked for a major change order- the addition of a shopping cart. Meanwhile, the client still needed to have something to show to coincide with the launch of their new gallery. Our solution was to do a soft launch with limited content, which the client can add on their own timeline. This beats having an ugly under-construction page and gives us time to work on the shopping cart while the client adds content.

Project: Previous Igloo Multimedia Flash Site

URL: http://cousinisaac.com/igloo

Our previous site, done up in Flash showcases Flash multimedia techniques. These days however, with mobile phones and tablets not supporting Flash, we’re putting the old site out on an ice-float.

Client: Melissa Borrell Design

URL: http://melissaborrell.com

Description:  Igloo Multimedia was hired to customize a content management system and shopping cart with an image gallery for the client, a jewelry design firm in Austin, TX.  After careful consideration of the client’s requirements,  we determined they could be best fulfilled with a Joomla! CMS / Virtuemart shopping cart integration. We worked on the design as a team along with the client and Fish who Fish desigm and then learned Virtuemart inside and out so that we could customize the underlying code (PHP, XHTML, Javascript, and CSS. While iteratively adding features, testing, troubleshooting and resolving issues, we taught the client and her staff how to set up products and process orders using the site’s administration tools. This required especially clear and concise communication because the client travels frequently and our chief was overseas at the time. It was a complex project, but the result was a website that is elegant and easy to use.

Client: HUMA (for ADRA MONGOLIA)

URL: http://www.adra.org.mn/

This is a Joomla flash / xml image galleryIntegration for ADRA, an international non-governmental agency in Mongolia. Igloo Multimedia was subcontracted to program this site by the Humanitarian Media Agency (HUMA). They came to us with a need to add content management tools to their site. When we discovered their site was a vector for malware, we advised that they re-build from scratch. The client remarked upon completion “Wow, we paid for a Yugo and got a Porsche!” One caveat, ADRA opted to host the site in Mongolia which we advised against so occasionally the site is offline.

Project:  Mobitol

URL http://mobitol.com

As a world traveler,  Igloo’s chief needed an unlocked smart phone and Nokia fit the bill. The only problem? There is no copy and paste available for website text unless in a form. So he built Mobitol, a simple mobile website for copying and pasting text from other sites which garnered fab reviews  from The Handheld BlogWap Review, Pocketbrain (German)  and various other blogs in multiple languages. This one calls it “The Holy Grail.”  Currently mobitol gets about 10,000 page views per month.

Client: Trillium Technologies for Oregon State University

URL: http://oregoninvests.oregonstate.edu

In 2005 Igloo Multimedia was hired as a sub-contractor to revamp a portion of the University of Oregon’s website to work with the latest version of Filemaker Pro Server database. We had to get familiarized with the FX.PHP class and Filemaker Pro Server quickly and then, without changing the look and feel of the site (though we would have liked to) completely reprogram the front and back ends. Afterward, we walked the client through the changes so that we were able to do similar upgrades for their other clients later at about a third of the cost.  Caveat:  The client maintains the site themselves so we cannot vouch for it’s current state.

Project: The Adventures of Agent Argyle Sponsorship Pitch / Episode 1

URL: http://www.youtube.com/cousinisaac

This sponsorship pitch is intended to drum up investors for a cartoon spoof of the secret agent genre. The incentive for sponsorship is more than merely monetary as sponsors will have opportunities to become part of the creative process.

Client: NoniConnection

URL: http://www.nonialoha.com/

The client came to us for help transitioning from their old shopping cart / CMS  MIVA MERCHANT 4 to version 5 which uses CSS instead of  proprietary styling markup. With an ongoing maintenance contract we help implement the changes and re-tool parts of the site as the need arises.

Client: PrintingXstation for Lily Hotel, Lao PDR

URL: http://lilyhotel.asia/

The Client came to us with a logo and a very limited budget  for a Hotel in Lao PDR. Our solution was to design and build a mini site quickly using image maps exported directly from our design document, thus. eliminating the need for extensive html or css tweeking, while still providing a custom look and feel.

The client, an author, poet and photographer  came to Cousin Isaac in 1995  to design him a simple site with lots of whitespace that he could update himself without having to know html. Isaac designed the look and feel  and  then implemented the site using Mambo (the precursor to Joomla).  After a bit of training, Michael has been managing the content ever since.
